Facilities as published
- Callaghan Lake has a very rough, undeveloped gravel boat launch. You can leave your boat in the water or on the beach overnight, at your own risk. There is no dock or marina to moor boats. Waterskiing is not allowed.
- Campfires are allowed only in fire rings provided at the frontcountry campground. Please follow Leave No Trace outdoor ethics. Do not gather firewood in the park as this is an offence under the Park Act. Dead wood is a habitat for plants and animals and adds organic material to the soil. If you bring firewood, buy it locally. Wood from other areas can spread invasive species. To learn more, visit Buy Local, Burn Local .
- There is a day-use area at the campground, but there are no picnic tables. For more information, see the frontcountry camping section.
- This park has one pit toilet near the frontcountry campground. During winter, BC Parks does not maintain the toilet, due to access issues. However, the toilet was upgraded in 2025 to allow for winter use.
Camping information as published
- Callaghan Lake Park includes a small frontcountry campground at Callaghan Lake and in the day-use area. The term ‘frontcountry’ refers to any area within 1 km of a highway or park road. The campground is at the end of the access road. It is accessible by high-clearance vehicle during snow-free months (usually from mid-June to the end of October). There are eight campsites, which are suitable for tents or campers. Campsites are available exclusively on a first come, first served basis. Reservations are not available for this campground. BC Parks does not charge any fees for camping here. Camping is only allowed at the designated frontcountry campground, to prevent encounters with grizzly bears and to protect grizzly habitat. Camping is not allowed anywhere else in the park, including at Cirque Lake. This is an informal campground with very limited facilities. The closest store is in Whistler, approximately 20 km away. There is a single pit toilet for the entire campground. There are no garbage facilities, so always pack out what you pack in. Store garbage and other wildlife attractants securely, especially when you are away from your site. For more information, see the camping section of the wildlife safety page. Each campsite has its own fire ring. Campfires are allowed only in fire rings, and only when no fire ban is in place. For more information, see the campfires section of this page. BC Parks is conducting an ongoing, long-term revegetation project in the area around the campground. Please keep out of closed areas around the campsites and stick to marked trails.

Experience & practicality
Two transparent read-time scores. Unknown facts never count for or against a place, and a score is never used as filter evidence.
Experience
Published recreation and setting.
5.0/ 10
Documented depth: 8 of 16 evidence weight, from 4 published facts. A low number means little is published, not that the place is poor.
Why
- Hiking
- Fishing
- Kayaking / canoeing
- Hunting
Practicality
Published logistics: access, cost, facilities.
—/ 10
Not enough data. Only 1 relevant fact has been published for this record, so no score is shown rather than an invented one.
Why
- Pets allowed
Partially supported: only one of the two dimensions has enough published evidence, so this record is not presented or ranked as the equal of a fully documented one.
Methodology nmr-score-3.0.0. Park-level activities feed Experience only; campsite facts feed Practicality only. Experience measures how much recreation and setting evidence is published; Practicality is the published positive share scaled by how much of the logistics catalogue has been documented, so a handful of positives can no longer read 10/10. Unknown is never treated as a no. Neither dimension is used to filter search results, and “Best” ordering ranks fully supported records above partially supported ones.
