Blue-Green Algae — Blue Green Algae — Effective: August 19, 2026 - Until Further Notice

Fecal Water Quality — Moose Lake — Effective: August 17, 2026 - Until Further Notice — The water at this location is tested weekly by Alberta Health Services. Our most recent test has produced fecal indicator bacteria levels that exceed the recommended limits. Additional information can be found online at AHS Health Advisories Contact with these waters may cause illness, and swimming is not recommended. Never drink or cook with untreated water directly from any lake or reservoir, at any time. Water-borne organisms, including fecal bacteria, can cause vomiting and diarrhea. For more information on beach monitoring, please contact Alberta Health Services at 811 .

Trail Warning — Moose Lake Trails — Effective: May 15, 2026 - Until Further Notice — Please be advised that with the ongoing weather events, trails may become impassable due to fallen trees and flooding. Please use caution when accessing hiking trails and be prepared to turn back or change your plans.

Where: Moose Lake Group Use , Moose Lake Day Use , Moose Lake Campground , Moose Lake Provincial Park Please be advised that Cyanobacterial (Blue-Green Algae) has been identified in the water at this location. Additional information can be found online at AHS Health Advisories As always, visitors and residents are reminded to never drink or cook with untreated water directly from any recreational body of water at any time. Boiling this water will not remove the toxins produced by cyanobacteria. An alternative source of drinking water should also be provided for pets and livestock while this advisory is active. Weather and wind conditions can cause algae blooms to move from one location in the lake to another. As such, this advisory will remain in effect until further notice.

Camping information as published

  • Water: Please bring your own water. Water from the hand pump/tap is not safe for consumption or use and should only be used to put out fires. Water tanks can be filled up at Franchere Bay Provincial Recreation Area.

Experience & practicality

Two transparent read-time scores. Unknown facts never count for or against a place, and a score is never used as filter evidence.

Experience

Published recreation and setting.

—/ 10

Not enough data. Only 0 relevant facts have been published for this record, so no score is shown rather than an invented one.

Practicality

Published logistics: access, cost, facilities.

8.1/ 10

100% of the 8 published facts are positive, scaled by how much is documented (81% of the 16-weight target). Partial data coverage · 19 still unpublished. A thin record reads low because little is published, not because the place is poor.

Why

  • Camping is published as allowed
  • Restroom
  • Drinking water
  • Cost is published
  • Electric hookup
  • Dump station
  • Fire ring
  • $25 or less per night

Partially supported: only one of the two dimensions has enough published evidence, so this record is not presented or ranked as the equal of a fully documented one.

Methodology nmr-score-3.0.0. Park-level activities feed Experience only; campsite facts feed Practicality only. Experience measures how much recreation and setting evidence is published; Practicality is the published positive share scaled by how much of the logistics catalogue has been documented, so a handful of positives can no longer read 10/10. Unknown is never treated as a no. Neither dimension is used to filter search results, and “Best” ordering ranks fully supported records above partially supported ones.
