Ongoing research at Kikomun Creek Park — Researchers have installed 8 research sites throughout Kikomun Creek Park supporting a project to monitor the impact and interactions of prescribed burning and herbicide application on invasive species in the park. These research sites will be in place for several years and will include minimal research infrastructure (metal pegs and pins) that may be visible to park visitors. The intent of the project is to determine the best possible management of invasive species while supporting ecosystem restoration actions. There will be signage indicating the location of the research sites. Please DO NOT DISTURB these sites. For more information please contact the BC Parks Conservation Specialist at (250) 420-6285.

- A concrete slab boat launch is located on Lake Koocanusa. The drop-off can be steep during low water periods. A new public boat launch has recently been constructed near the park on Lake Koocanusa. The park boat launch will now be closed during the off season of the park.
- There are hot showers at the Surveyors Lake Campground, Ponderosa Campground and group-use area as well as at the South Pool group-use area.

- Ponderosa campsite offers 10 vehicle-accessible campsites with electrical hook-ups. The charge is an extra $5 per night. Electrical hook-up sites have been extended in size and now include fire rings.
- A sani-station and dump is available during the collecting season. Sani-station use fee: $5 per discharge
- Campfires are allowed and campfire rings are provided at each campsite. The exception is for sites with electrical hook-ups, there are no firepits. We encourage visitors to conserve wood and protect the environment by minimizing the use of fire and using campstoves instead. Firewood can be purchased in the park or you may bring your own wood. Fees for firewood are set locally and may vary from park to park. To preserve vegetation and ground cover, please don’t gather firewood from the area around your campsite or elsewhere in the park (this is a ticketable offence under the Park Act ). Dead wood is an important habitat element for many plants and animals and it adds organic matter to the soil.
- Cold water taps are located throughout the park. Taps are shut off during the off-season.

Experience & practicality
Two transparent read-time scores. Unknown facts never count for or against a place, and a score is never used as filter evidence.
Experience
Published recreation and setting.
6.3/ 10
Documented depth: 10 of 16 evidence weight, from 5 published facts. A low number means little is published, not that the place is poor.
Why
- Hiking
- Fishing
- Kayaking / canoeing
- Swimming
- Hunting
Practicality
Published logistics: access, cost, facilities.
4.7/ 10
100% of the 6 published facts are positive, scaled by how much is documented (47% of the 16-weight target). Thin data coverage · 21 still unpublished. A thin record reads low because little is published, not because the place is poor.
Why
- Cost is published
- Electric hookup
- RV friendly
- Dump station
- Pets allowed
- Trailer friendly
Fully supported: both dimensions earned a score from 11 published facts.
Methodology nmr-score-3.0.0. Park-level activities feed Experience only; campsite facts feed Practicality only. Experience measures how much recreation and setting evidence is published; Practicality is the published positive share scaled by how much of the logistics catalogue has been documented, so a handful of positives can no longer read 10/10. Unknown is never treated as a no. Neither dimension is used to filter search results, and “Best” ordering ranks fully supported records above partially supported ones.
