  • Official access warning

Sanitation: Disposing of human waste in the bay or onto park beaches is prohibited. On Tomales Bay, there are vault toilets at Marshall Beach and Tomales Beach. If camping on other beaches, you are required to pack out all human waste using a portable toilet or similar commercially designed waste disposal containers that can be emptied into an RV dump station or pit toilet, or a GO anywhere toilet kit® (formerly sold as WAG® Bags). While there are restrooms at Hearts Desire Beach, Lawsons Landing, and Miller Boat Launch, a pit toilet at Indian Beach, and portable toilets at Chicken Ranch Beach, camping is prohibited at all of these locations. Food and Food Storage: Animals will tear into tents and kayaks to get at food. All food, all trash, all toiletries, and all other scented items should be stored in portable animal-resistant food storage containers unless in immediate use. Visit the park's A Guide to Low Impact Boat Camping page at https://www.nps.gov/pore/planyourvisit/kayak_libc.htm for more details.

Experience & practicality

Two transparent read-time scores. Unknown facts never count for or against a place, and a score is never used as filter evidence.

Experience

Published recreation and setting.

—/ 10

Not enough data. Only 0 relevant facts have been published for this record, so no score is shown rather than an invented one.

Practicality

Published logistics: access, cost, facilities.

6.3/ 10

69% of the 10 published facts are positive, scaled by how much is documented (91% of the 16-weight target). Partial data coverage · 17 still unpublished. A thin record reads low because little is published, not because the place is poor.

Why

  • Camping is published as allowed
  • Restroom
  • Drinking water
  • Cell service
  • Cost is published

Published as not available

  • Dump station
  • $25 or less per night
  • Shower
  • Trash service
  • Laundry

Partially supported: only one of the two dimensions has enough published evidence, so this record is not presented or ranked as the equal of a fully documented one.

Methodology nmr-score-3.0.0. Park-level activities feed Experience only; campsite facts feed Practicality only. Experience measures how much recreation and setting evidence is published; Practicality is the published positive share scaled by how much of the logistics catalogue has been documented, so a handful of positives can no longer read 10/10. Unknown is never treated as a no. Neither dimension is used to filter search results, and “Best” ordering ranks fully supported records above partially supported ones.
